Reconstitution calculator
Enter your own numbers to see how much to draw on a U-100 insulin syringe. Nothing is pre-filled, and nothing you type leaves your device.
Syringe size (U-100)
How this is calculated
- mg and mcg
- Both measure weight. 1 mg = 1,000 mcg, so 0.25 mg and 250 mcg are the same dose.
- IU
- International units measure strength, not weight. HGH, hCG and oxytocin are usually dosed in IU. IU can't be converted to mg, so use IU for both the vial and the dose.
- U-100 syringe
- The common insulin syringe. It has 100 units per mL, so 10 units = 0.1 mL and 50 units = 0.5 mL. A 0.3 mL syringe holds 30 units, a 0.5 mL syringe 50 units.
- Concentration
- How much compound is in each mL of the mixed vial: vial amount ÷ water (mL).
- Volume to draw
- Your dose ÷ concentration. Units to draw is that volume × 100.
- Doses per vial
- Vial amount ÷ your dose.
Example: 5 mg in 2 mL is 2,500 mcg per mL. A 250 mcg dose is 0.1 mL, which is 10 units on a U-100 syringe.
This calculator only does the math on the numbers you enter. It doesn't recommend doses and isn't medical advice. Double-check every calculation, and confirm doses with your healthcare provider.
